Chicory House, Real Coffee, Flooded Keyboard

As if I hadn’t suffered enough “flood damage” this year, I started my first workday since rebuilding my home office setup – hour the first time in months! – in our rental… by pouring a cup of coffee into my keyboard. 😱

A desktop computer keyboard inverted over a kitchen sink, with many of its keycaps scattered around.

Gotta love the reliability of these mechanical keyboards. It was DEFINITELY broken to begin with, with all kinds of “shorting” issues.

So I unplugged it, stripped all the keycaps, then ran the whole unit under a cold tap for a bit. Then I shook out as much water as I could and put it in front of a fan heater for a couple of hours. Finally, I put it all back together again and it worked fine.

    Hurrah!
