Attractive square garden nestled in central Oxford. Aside from the ocassional geocache, nothing special to write home about, but still a nice place for a lunch break.

Reasonable, central pub with a good selection of beers and middle-of-the-road food. Small quantity of kerbside outdoor seating.

Beautiful, iconically-Oxford, arch-shaped building, but be aware that access for the disabled is pretty-much nonexistent. Upper floors are too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.

This building is mostly not-accessible to the public, but those who attend interviews at the Bodleian Libraries will almost certainly visit as their HR department is found here.

My favourite Oxford museum! Fascinating collections and imaginative exhibitions. Space is a little tight (especially when the tourists are out and about) and the disabled access lift seems to be broken more often than not, but so long as you can manage the stairs this Oxford gem promises to show you more about how science USED to be done than you ever thought possible.

Perfectly reasonable branch of a pleasant building society. Went the extra mile when we took out our first mortgage by sending a box of essentials – toilet paper, mugs, tea, UHT milk etc. – to our new house so that we could settle in before we started to unpack: nice touch.

Good-value pizza by the slice, pasties, sausage rolls etc. Note that there are two service hatches – one on Queen Street and one in the shopping centre – and sometimes there’ll be a queue at one while staff wait patiently at the other for you to see sense and take the shortcut!

Reasonable conveniently-central hotel with good access to Oxford amenities at an acceptable price. Rooms slightly small and floors excitingly “wonky”: not for those afraid of stairs or prone to seasickness!

Having been skiing on ‘real’ snow for ~25 years, I was pleasantly surprised by the believability of this indoor artificial slope: slightly icy, crystalline snow but otherwise very much like the real thing. Better yet was the service: owing to an administrative mix up (slightly my fault, slightly their fault) I arrived anticipating an hour’s private snowboard tutoring – as I hadn’t snowboarded in 16 years – a full 24 hours ahead of when I was expected. Nonetheless, they sorted me out with an instructor and honoured the verbal agreement I claimed to have, despite what was written on my ticket!

Compared to an Alp, the slope is extremely short and the lifts painfully slow, but this gem of a site beats dry-sloping by a long, long way, and offer helpful friendly service to boot.
