Some excellent recommendations on installability of web applications to the "desktop", whether or not they have defined manifests/are PWAs. I really hope to see the major OS and browser manufacturers take these recommendations on board, in particular those in the mobile space: I still believe in the dream that most of the popular free or subscription "apps" that people use could be implemented just as well (and in some ways better, e.g. working across more platforms with less developer effort, more-streamlined automatic updates, etc.).
And from a personal perspective: all of the "apps" I've ever published to any platform's "app store" would benefit from this change. It's just a better way (for most applications: I appreciate that there are a few for which it's not - yet! - feasible to switch from native to web-platform).
