Have been stood at/pacing around the published coordinates for a while with my GPSr (Garmin Montana 600, firmware checked last week, Chirp Searching set to “On”, but I’ve also tried toggling it), and I’m not finding a Chirp. Think this expedition might be a no-go. I’m going to be in the area for the next few minutes, so if the owner happens to be by their email within the next few minutes they’re welcome to send be a message via geocaching.com to let me know where the Chirp itself is hidden (if it’s not in the cache) and I can go check on it.

And that’s it! That’s me done for the day. What a delightful and carefully places series of caches. I really hope I get time to do the Southern Loop someday, too! But for now, it’s time to get back to the car (where I’ve stashed some now much-needed water) and then back to Croyde for a drink in the hot tub.

Thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon!

Dan, exhausted, at the end of a trail.

Okay: I made a HUGE mistake heading to this one. Somehow I must have ended up on the wrong path, because I found myself on an abandoned footpath (definitely a footpath, though: the stone walls it crossed had stiles), heavily overgrown and increasingly flooded! Eventually I had to give up and change course, hacking my way through 7-foot nettles to rejoin the main path. Should’ve brought a machete! Got to the cache in the end, though!
