In answer to your first question: no, the mugshots don’t come from LiveJournal.
This renders your second question redundant.
Will it cope with LJ cuts and show the number of comments?
It *might* cope with lj-cuts (it depends how easy LiveJournal make it to do so).
It won’t support number of comments for LiveJournal until LiveJournal start supporting non-Neanderthol standards and actually let me know how many comments a given post has. It may support number of comments for real blogs, though.
My blog isn’t a real blog? Wow! Does that mean if you multiply my blog by itself you get -1?
