I thought about switching to a straight razor at some point because I had the same experience with electric razors and disposables as you (I currently use a Mach 3 – tried the Fusion but it gave me major razor burn)…

The initial investment is quite a lot, but fair enough it’s mostly reuseable. However, you are supposed to replaced all the bits and pieces like the strop on a regular basis and the whetstone on a slightly less regular basis so I don’t think it would work out much less expensive… I’m guessing it’s a ‘manly’ thing.

So I stuck with the Mach 3 and use a brush and soap instead of cans of shaving cream. That saves quite a bit.

Please show me the double-edged safety razor next time I come round – I haven’t encountered one before…
