I don’t know any Italian, but I did a GCSE in latin which is pretty much the same. Here’s some useful phrases:

Caecilius est in Horto – Caecilius is in the garden
Canem est in via – The dog is in the street
Cibus est in mensa – The food is on the table
Clemens in foro ambulabat – Clemens walks in the forum

Of course, ‘useful’ is a relative term here.
