Absolutely, Statto. Because the only point in writing any work of fiction is to meet a deadline or to get published. And, of course, that hundreds or even thousands of other people have already tried similar things with success or not makes such an exercise pointless.

In answer to your query, the point is much the same as the point of running a marathon: to exercise (in this case, your brain), to get better at doing it (in this case, writing), and for fun (both in the attempt and, perhaps, in the accomplishment).
